Flames are stored in Xml files with .flame or .flam3 extensions. They can be opened in Fractorium from either the menu, dragging n dropping, or pasting. If more than one is opened at a time, it will be combined into a single file.
Files with the .chaos extension created in Chaotica are also supported for opening.
The drag n drop and paste methods can behave in two ways.
This will append the new flames to end of the currently opened flames.
This will replace the current flames with the new ones. Be very careful doing this because it will overwrite whatever you are doing.
Click File | Open and select the flames you want to open. Be very careful doing this because it will overwrite whatever you are doing.
Drag n Drop
Drag and drop one or more files from the file explorer to append to the currently opened list of flames. The default behavior is to append, so hold Ctrl when dropping to replace.
Note that dragging in a folder will recursively traverse all of its subfolders and open all flame files which were found.
This method is most useful when collaborating with other artists. Copy the full text of a flame Xml or .chaos file and paste it into Fractorium with Ctrl + V to append to the current flames. Press Ctrl + Shift + V to replace them.
